Have you heard about Inspire?

Inspire is an entirely new software which helps designer getting inspired. Isn’t it enough? Indeed it isn’t only a matter of being inspired because Inspire teaches you how to use less material to create products. Skorpion Engineering has updated its services including this new software. Our team is ready to help you lighten you products and imagine new way to create objects. Nowadays it’s import for everyone to use less material in order to lighten an object but also to think outside the box. Think outside the box is how we can create objects that in the previous time were impossible to realize and to imagine. We are ready for optimizing your products to use only the material that is…

Benefits of 3D printing for automotive industry

The use of rapid prototyping is strategic in all fields but particularly in automotive industry since today do not changes only the way we produce but also the way we design. New additive technologies allow us to create special geometries pieces, items that add material only where needed, creating new forms of unique design. In the automotive sector as in the aerospace industry the lightness of the pieces is becoming increasingly important low consumption reduction of waste material customization and all this is now possible thanks to sophisticated technologies of addittive manufacturing. Additive technology allows to create innovative automotive components not only in shape but also in the structure, then both aesthetics and design can be completely rethought. Skorpion Engineering…

Bi-material prototypes

PolyJet photopolymers combine a wide variety of material properties with thin layers, so you can create true product realism in your prototypes. Objet 3D Printers are the only additive manufacturing systems in the world than give you multi-material flexibility. You can combine materials within the same 3D printed model or in the same print job, enabling a wealth of applications such as over-molding, coloring, simultaneous prints in different materials and more. You can also combine two materials during printing to create composite Digital Materials with very specific properties. Would you like to discover what materials are available with PolyJet technology: here you can find them.

10 steps to create prototypes perfectly transparent

1) Cut a block of acrylic with a material over 30 mm. 2) CNC milling on side B of the lens. 3) Fill the B-side of the hollow surface with Plaster. 4) Work the surface of Plaster and edges. 5) Turn the piece and create references to the machine. 6) Working with CNC the surface of part A 7) After milling, the only part that holds the workpiece on the surface of the milling machine is the Plaster. 8) Remove the Plaster with solvent. 9) By painting the part, polisher knows' when he polished the depth of the machined finish. 10) Polish the part until it becomes crystal-clear, making sure that the edges remain sharp and that those polishing is…

PEEK

The PEEK (polyether ether ketone) is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic organic polymer with excellent mechanical properties, chemical and thermal (up to 240 ° C). It has an excellent dimensional stability, good chemical resistance, and good electrical insulation. Thanks to its robustness, the PEEK is used to manufacture bearings, pistons, pumps, HPLC columns, valves for compressors, cable insulation. Main features heat resistance without load is high but is considerably reduced under load, even if low. tensile strength can range from 90 to 100 MPa. high resistance to thermal degradation / threats from organic or aqueous environments polymerization reaction takes place at about 300 °C in aprotic polar solvents vitreous transition temperature: about 143 °C melting point around 343 °C

When additive meets subtractive

If you can dream it you can do it. Do you remember what Walt Disney used to say? Well, in Skorpion Engineering this quote is our mantra. In August Factory 61, our production center in Trofarello, will start its transformation. We’ll move in a new, modern and amazing factory of about 2000mq in which additive and subtractive technologies will be placed. A new CNC milling center of 7000x3500x2300 mm will be installed inside Factory 61. This new machine will be able to realize a whole car in 1:1 scale. Our dream and our Rapid Developing Concept Car project, that will be launched on October, is become true. Whole cars in few weeks will be realized thanks to the dual soul…

The secret of DMLS: a new trend inside 3D printing world

DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering) technology is rising up and during this year has started an unprecedented flourishing. Why DMLS is starring this kind of success? There are some clear and tangible reasons. Let’s discover them together. Metal sintering has change forever what we knew about 3d printing. Before DMLS, 3d printing technologies were used to build prototypes or little pre series of about maximum 50 pieces. Now, thanks to DMLS, we are able to produce definitive product which can be used in production. This technology has definitively changed the way we thought about 3d printing and rapid prototyping technologies in business application. Nowadays aerospace and automotive industries realize metal pieces thanks to DMLS that in past years we thought…
